Event Terms & Conditions
These Event Terms & Conditions apply to events promoted, organised, or operated by Southern Events Ltd, unless otherwise stated on the event listing or ticketing page.
By purchasing a ticket, registering for, entering, or attending an event, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights you may have under New Zealand law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986, Privacy Act 2020, or any other rights that cannot legally be excluded.
1. Assumption of Risk
Attendance at any event is at your own risk.
You acknowledge that events may involve loud music, strobe lighting, lighting effects, crowded areas, dancing, physical activity, alcohol consumption by attendees, and other conditions that may carry inherent risks.
You are responsible for your own health, safety, belongings, and conduct while attending the event.
If you have a medical condition, accessibility requirement, or any concern that may affect your ability to safely attend an event, you should contact us before purchasing a ticket or attending.
2. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Southern Events Ltd, its directors, employees, contractors, promoters, suppliers, staff, volunteers, and venue partners will not be liable for any injury, illness, death, property damage, theft, loss, delay, cost, or expense suffered by an attendee in connection with an event.
This includes, but is not limited to, loss or damage caused by:
- the actions, omissions, negligence, or misconduct of other attendees;
- third-party suppliers, contractors, performers, security staff, or venue operators;
- lost, stolen, damaged, or misplaced property;
- refusal of entry or removal from the event in accordance with these Terms;
- changes to event details, where permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be excluded.
3. Conduct, Safety & Event Rules
Attendees must comply with:
- all venue rules and conditions of entry;
- all health and safety requirements;
- all instructions from event staff, security, venue staff, emergency services, or authorised representatives;
- all applicable New Zealand laws and regulations.
Southern Events Ltd reserves the right to refuse entry to, or remove from an event, any person who:
- behaves in a dangerous, aggressive, abusive, disruptive, antisocial, or illegal manner;
- appears intoxicated or under the influence of drugs;
- refuses to comply with staff, security, or venue instructions;
- attempts to bring prohibited items into the event;
- breaches these Terms or any venue rules.
Removal or refusal of entry under this section will not entitle you to a refund, unless required by law.
4. Alcohol, Drugs & Prohibited Items
Alcohol and drug policies will be enforced in accordance with New Zealand law and venue requirements.
No outside alcohol, glass bottles, weapons, fireworks, flares, illegal substances, or dangerous items are permitted at any event.
The event organiser, venue, or security may conduct bag checks, ID checks, or other reasonable searches as a condition of entry.
Prohibited items may be confiscated, and illegal items may be reported to the Police.
5. Age Restrictions & Identification
Some events may be restricted to attendees aged 18 years or over.
Where an event is R18, you must provide valid, current, and accepted photo identification if requested. Accepted forms of ID may include a current New Zealand driver licence, passport, or HANZ 18+ card / Kiwi Access Card.
Failure to provide valid ID when required may result in refusal of entry without refund, unless required by law.
It is your responsibility to check the event listing before purchasing a ticket to confirm whether age restrictions apply.
6. Tickets
You are responsible for ensuring that your ticket details are correct before completing your purchase.
Tickets must be presented for scanning on entry, either digitally or in printed form, unless otherwise stated.
Only the first valid ticket scanned will be accepted. Duplicate, copied, altered, or fraudulently obtained tickets may be refused.
Southern Events Ltd is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, copied, or duplicated tickets.
7. Ticket Pricing
Ticket prices may change at any time due to demand, ticket release stages, promotions, discounts, or other factors.
The price you pay at the time of purchase is final.
No refunds, credits, partial refunds, or price adjustments will be provided if ticket prices are later changed, discounted, increased, or re-released, unless required by law.
8. Refunds
All ticket sales are final, except as set out in these Terms or as required by New Zealand law.
Refunds will not usually be provided if:
- you change your mind;
- you can no longer attend;
- you arrive late;
- you are refused entry or removed for breaching these Terms;
- you purchased the wrong ticket;
- you fail to meet age or ID requirements;
- you do not attend the event.
If a refund is approved, it will usually be processed back to the original payment method used for purchase.
Booking fees, transaction fees, processing fees, or other third-party charges may be non-refundable, unless required by law or the relevant ticketing provider's terms.
9. Postponed or Rescheduled Events
If an event is postponed or rescheduled, your ticket will automatically remain valid for the new date, unless we advise otherwise.
If you cannot attend the new date, you may request a refund within 14 days of being notified of the rescheduled date, unless a different refund period is stated in the event-specific terms or required by law.
Refund requests made outside the stated refund period may be declined, unless required by law.
Southern Events Ltd is not responsible for additional costs such as travel, accommodation, transport, meals, or other expenses incurred in connection with a postponed or rescheduled event, unless required by law.
10. Cancelled Events
If an event is cancelled and not rescheduled, you will be entitled to a refund of the ticket price, subject to any applicable laws and ticketing provider processes.
Refunds will usually be processed to the original payment method used for purchase.
Southern Events Ltd is not responsible for additional costs such as travel, accommodation, transport, meals, or other expenses incurred in connection with a cancelled event, unless required by law.
11. Event Changes
Southern Events Ltd reserves the right to make reasonable changes to an event, including changes to:
- artist lineup;
- supporting acts;
- venue;
- event layout;
- start time;
- finish time;
- entry procedures;
- production elements;
- event format.
Where a change is minor, no refund will be provided unless required by law.
Where a change is significant, refund options will be handled in accordance with New Zealand law and any applicable ticketing provider terms.
12. Ticket Transfers, Resale & Unauthorised Sellers
Tickets may only be transferred or resold where permitted by the official ticketing provider and applicable law.
Tickets must not be resold for commercial gain, used in promotions, competitions, giveaways, or bundled with other goods or services without prior written permission from Southern Events Ltd.
Tickets purchased from unauthorised third-party sellers may be cancelled or refused entry without refund.
Southern Events Ltd is not responsible for tickets purchased through unofficial resale platforms, social media, private sellers, or any unauthorised source.
13. Media, Photography & Recording
By entering an event, you acknowledge and agree that you may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed, or otherwise recorded.
You grant Southern Events Ltd, its partners, contractors, media teams, and authorised representatives permission to use event photography, video, audio, and other recordings that may include your image, likeness, or voice for promotional, marketing, social media, archival, and commercial purposes without compensation.
If you have a specific concern about being photographed or filmed, please contact us before the event where possible, or speak to event staff on arrival.
Personal photography and video may be permitted for private, non-commercial use unless otherwise stated. Professional cameras, drones, recording equipment, or commercial filming may require prior written approval.
14. Privacy
Personal information collected through ticket purchases, event registration, website forms, mailing lists, or other event-related channels will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and New Zealand privacy law.
This may include information provided to us by ticketing providers, payment processors, marketing platforms, venues, or other service providers involved in delivering the event.

15. Accessibility & Medical Requirements
We aim to make our events as accessible and safe as reasonably practicable.
If you have accessibility needs, medical requirements, or require assistance at an event, please contact us before the event so we can discuss what support may be available.
While we will do our best to assist, accessibility arrangements may vary depending on the venue, event format, and available facilities.
16. Force Majeure
Southern Events Ltd will not be liable for any failure, delay, cancellation, postponement, or change to an event caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- extreme weather;
- natural disasters;
- fire, flood, earthquake, or other emergency;
- government restrictions or public health requirements;
- pandemics or epidemics;
- strikes or industrial action;
- power failure or technical failure;
- venue unavailability;
- artist illness, travel disruption, or transport failure;
- security threats, civil unrest, terrorism, or acts of war;
- any other event beyond reasonable control.
Where an event is affected by a force majeure event, Southern Events Ltd will determine the appropriate response, which may include postponement, rescheduling, relocation, format changes, or cancellation, subject to New Zealand law.
17. Indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Southern Events Ltd, its directors, employees, contractors, promoters, suppliers, staff, volunteers, and venue partners against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from:
- your breach of these Terms;
- your unlawful, negligent, reckless, or dangerous conduct;
- your damage to property;
- your actions or omissions at the event;
- your misuse of tickets or event access.
18. Website, Ticketing Provider & Third-Party Terms
Ticket purchases may be processed through third-party ticketing platforms, payment providers, or event partners.
By purchasing a ticket, you may also be subject to the terms, conditions, fees, and policies of those third-party providers.
Southern Events Ltd is not responsible for the acts, omissions, technical issues, payment issues, or platform policies of third-party providers, except where required by law.
19. Changes to These Terms
Southern Events Ltd may update these Terms from time to time.
The Terms that apply to your ticket will generally be the Terms in place at the time of purchase, unless an update is required by law or is necessary for event safety, security, or operational reasons.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Any dispute relating to these Terms or an event will be subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
